Two major advantages of our pop-up campers are their low center of gravity and narrow 7’ width. This design provides more stability and ease of handling. Most full size pickups are 6’ wide, so the narrower width of the NORTHSTAR will improve the ride, control, ability to navigate while in traffic and increase the visibility of what is being towed.

In addition to the 7’ wide pop-ups, NORTHSTAR builds five hardwall campers in that same 7’ width and three models in a 7’ 6” body width - the widest camper this company chooses to produce.

Even though the camper shopper can be tempted by wider brands that appear to have vast interiors with travel trailer style bathrooms, it may be wise to consider the stability and control offered by the NORTHSTAR units.

In summary, the larger the camper, the more weight. More leverage is created by adding length, width and height. Keeping the camper size within reason provides for a better and safer ride all around. NORTHSTAR cares about quality and safety.

Of course the advantages of being narrower are obvious. Cornering is easier when going down a mountain or venturing off-road. It is easier to see around when towing, in traffic, or backing out of a parking area. The center of gravity is moved closer to the middle of the truck, giving you more control of your vehicle in calm or windy conditions.

There is less wind resistance and less stress on your truck in the narrower camper. We have learned from experience that the positives outweigh the negatives.
